Bwin took part for the first time at the “Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2021” and won two important awards.
The program “Bwin supports the Brave Children of Elepap” won the bronze award in the category “Cooperation with NGOs”. This program aims to improve the daily life of the children of ELEPAP and assists the work of the Organization’s management and its employees at the same time. Bwin supported the construction of four (4) sensory integration rooms in Athens, Volos, Thessaloniki and Agrinio and helped renovate three (3) accessible playgrounds in Thessaloniki, Ioannina and Chania, covering all the branches of the Organization.
“This award is really important for ELEPAP as it confirms the value of our innovative programs and, at the same time, rewards bwin, which always supports us and helped us to realize these important projects. Hundreds of children with disabilities can enjoy playing with their friends freely all over Greece due to the sensitivity of the people of bwin. So, we have to thank them from the bottom of our hearts and wish that they remain close to the Brave Children of ELEPAP. I also want to thank all who contributed, so this this action gets awarded”, said Tassos Marianos, General Manager of ELEPAP.
The program “Bwin traveled to remote regions of Greece, providing health care services in cooperation with ‘Médecins du Monde’” won the silver award in the same category: “Cooperation with NGOs”. The aim of this program is to provide medical care services to residents in remote regions of Greece. Psara (September 2019), Fournoi Korseon (October 2019), Kastellorizo (November 2019), Prespes (September 2020) and Kimi in Rhodope (October 2020) were the five (5) areas, in which teams of “Médecins du Monde” provided free of charge health care services to more than 800 people.
“The goal of preventive healthcare is to hinder disease, disability and death, prolong life and promote physical and mental health and efficiency. Globally, the emphasis nowadays is on prevention and not on treatment. Our common target it to modify behavioral patterns (e.g. through exercise, diet, etc.), which is the definition of ‘health’. Fully aware of the consequences of the economic crisis that has plagued our country in recent years, ‘Médecins du Monde’, with the support of bwin, continue to offer their services to people with difficulty in accessing public health care services”, stated Evgenia Thanou, General Director of ‘Médecins du Monde’.
“In our first participation at the country’s most recognized awards for contributing to society, bwin won two awards. These distinctions are the culmination of our efforts to support the communities, in which we operate, and give back to society some of the trust we receive. It makes us even happier that these awards were won in the category ‘Cooperation with NGOs’, because it reflects our long-standing cooperation with two Organizations which support thousands of people every day through their programs”, added Ioanna Beriou, Director of Sponsorship, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Affairs, on behalf of bwin.
Bwin’s initiatives, part of its corporate social responsibility program, are in alignment with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN until 2030, thus contributing to a better and more sustainable future for all. This initiative is part of Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-being and Goal No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
