Bwin excelled in two categories at Bravo Sustainability Awards 2021. The aim of these awards is to highlight and reward the best practices recorded by the participating Organizations at the online Dialogue for Sustainable Development, in the context of the Sustainable Greece 2020 Initiative. The digital ceremony was the end of the Bravo Sustainability Week 2021, organized by the QualityNet Foundation.
Bwin won the first award in the category “Bravo in Action” for the program “bwin supports the Brave Children of ELEPAP”. The goal of the program is to improve the daily life of the children of ELEPAP and at the same time, to support the work of the Organization’s management and its employees.
In detail, bwin boosted the construction of four (4) sensory integration rooms in Athens, Volos, Thessaloniki and Agrinio and helped to renovate three (3) accessible playgrounds in Thessaloniki, Ioannina and Chania. In that way, all the branches of the Organization were benefited.
“In ELEPAP we try every day to offer the conditions of the best possible rehabilitation program to children and adults, suffering from cerebral palsy. Also, we want to give greater chances of integration into the society for those living with us. A big helper in this effort to realize our dream of having accessible playgrounds in our country for every child, with or without disabilities, is bwin!”, stated Tasos Marianos, General Manager of ELEPAP.
The second award was given to bwin in the “Special Bravo Covid-19” category for the “Initiatives to deal with the consequences of the pandemic” program. The aim is to make day-to-day life better for vulnerable groups of people, who have been greatly affected from the pandemic, and support the National Health System. Taking into account the needs created by the pandemic, bwin showed great reflexes and adjusted immediately its social responsibility strategy, in order to support those in need with a series of targeted actions.
From March 2020 until now, bwin has completed 15 initiatives, supporting 10 Hospitals around the country, as well as 14 NGOs. In total, more than two tons of medical supplies and two tons of food and essentials were offered to Hospitals and vulnerable groups respectively. At the peak of those actions is the “bwin Monday Night Game Against Covid-19” program, a series of charity friendly games in cooperation with Olympiacos B.C.
“These two distinctions for our work in society come at a time when, for us, the word ‘I’ has been replaced by ‘we’. We will continue supporting the vulnerable groups, that have been affected by the pandemic, our society, the National Health System and, of course, the ‘Brave Children of ELEPAP’ with actions and initiatives of great importance”, said Konstantinos Efremidis, bwin’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.
Bwin’s initiatives, part of its corporate social responsibility program, are in alignment with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN until 2030, contributing thus to a better and more sustainable future for all. This initiative is part of Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-being.
