“Médecins du Monde” managed to reach Fournoi Korseon and Thymaina with the support of bwin and provided health care services to residents of the two Northeast Aegean islands.
The team included a pathologist, a gynecologist, a pediatrician, a cardiologist, as well as a modern Ophthalmology unit, accompanied by an ophthalmologist and two nurses. The doctors examined more than 150 residents within two (2) days in different parts of the island. They also offered their services to 90 inhabitants of the Thymaina islet, which is situated close to Fournoi Korseon.
Fournoi Korseon was our third stop after Psara and Agios Efstratios. These missions are part of the “bwincares” program, bwin’s social responsibility project, in collaboration with “Médecins du Monde”.
“We stand by the inhabitants of these remote areas, because we feel that it is our duty. We thank bwin for being next to us for another year and supported our work”, said Eugenia Thanou, CEO of “Médecins du Monde”.
“Providing health care services to people leaving in remote islands is a key factor in making life possible all year-round for them. We are proud to support the humanitarian work of ‘Médecins du Monde’”, added Konstantinos Efremidis, spokesman of bwin.
Finally, Ioannis Marousis, Mayor of Fournoi Korseon, emphasized the importance and necessity of such actions.
Bwin supports the work of “Médecins du Monde” as an integral part of its corporate social responsibility strategy.
Our next stop will be Kastellorizo in late November.
