On Tuesday, the 7th of July 2020, bwin handed over a newly renovated accessible playground to the “Brave Children” of ELEPAP, thus celebrating with the best possible way the 40th year of the Organization’s presence in Chania, Crete. Of course, all the necessary measures and precautions were taken during the ceremony.
After the opening of the accessible playground in Thessaloniki, Chania became the next destination. Bwin supported this very important project and the “Brave Children” of ELEPAP will be able to safely use a crib, slide and play in specially designed areas. Even children in a wheelchair can enjoy life by playing with their peers without obstacles and discrimination.
At the accessible playground in Chania, children between the age of 3 and 10 will be able to play freely every day. The choice of equipment and the design of the playground was made by therapists and scientists in a way that serves the needs and preferences of each child. Dr. Paraskevi Orfanoudaki had the honor of cutting the ribbon alongside Ioanna Beriou, Corporate Communications Director of bwin, at an emotional ceremony.
“This year ELEPAP celebrated 40 years of continuous support to infants and children with disabilities and special needs. We gladly accepted this valuable offer from bwin. Children, educators and therapists can reach their goals through play, which can also boost the socialization of each participant. These goals are important for their further development in their lives. That is why every child should be able to enjoy playing and have proper access to accessible playgrounds. We thank bwin for its contribution and support in the work of ELEPAP, especially in the financially difficult times we are going through”, said Dr. Orfanoudaki.
“Playing is an inalienable right for every child. We are very proud to support this cause again this year, especially since it’s our first project in the region after the lift of the restrictive measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the beautiful and picturesque city of Chania, in collaboration with the technical team of ELEPAP, we gave all our love, so that the “Brave Children” can now enjoy playing without any problem. A future without discrimination is our common goal and we, at bwin, will continue to support the work of Institutions and Organizations, that share the same vision and strategy with us”, added Ioanna Beriou.
The accessible playground will become a meeting point for the children of ELEPAP in Chania. Children, who need so much to be able to play freely.
