During 2019, bwin supported the construction of four (4) sensory integration rooms and an accessible playground for the “Brave Children”, a project run by ELEPAP – Rehabilitation for the Disabled.
Projects of great importance were launched by bwin in 2019 for the “Brave Children” of ELEPAP as part of “bwincares” social responsibility program. Bwin supported the construction of four (4) sensory integration rooms for children with disabilities and neurodevelopmental problems in Athens (January), Thessaloniki (February), Volos (June) and Agrinio (June) and handed them over to ELEPAP. Through sensory integration, children are having sensory experiences that encourage movement, communication, expression, exploration and play. This type of experiences lead to relaxation, pleasure and stimulation of the sensory organs, while helping the children to develop social, cognitive and functional motor abilities.
Also, last December in Thessaloniki, bwin supported the construction of a special type of playground for all of ELEPAP’s «Brave Children». Now, they can safely use a crib, a seesaw, a mini-carousel or a slide. At ELEPAP’s playground in Thessaloniki children between 3-10 years old will have daily the opportunity to play and even children in wheelchair can enjoy playing without obstacles and discrimination. The choice of equipment and the design of the playground was made by therapists and special scientists, in order to serve the needs and preferences of each child at any given time.
«For 82 years, ELEPAP has provided comprehensive rehabilitation services to more than 100.000 children with physical and developmental disabilities all over Greece. Bwin, a major sponsor of ELEPAP, is one of our most valued supporters. We are grateful for the love that bwin shows to our children in Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos and Agrinio. The smile on the children’s faces is the greatest satisfaction for us all», said Marianna Moshou, president of «ELEPAP-Rehabilitation for The Disabled».
«Every child should have the inalienable right to access in playing. The playground in Thessaloniki, as well as the sensory processing rooms, prove bwin’s concrete support on the valuable work of ELEPAP», added Ioanna Beriou, Corporate Communications Director of Bwin.
Bwin continuously supports the humanitarian work of ELEPAP and considers it an integral part of its corporate social responsibility strategy «bwincares».
