On 25 September 2015 the General Assembly of the United Nations took a historical decision for the future of mankind, by adopting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. More than 150 leaders agreed on adopting 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to end poverty and hunger, protect human rights and human dignity, in order to defend the planet from degradation and foster peace. The Goals will stimulate action in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet, they are integrated and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.
A few days before reaching 6 years from that landmark date (25 September 2021), bwin presents the first campaign to inform the public and raise awareness about the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals until 2030, adopted by the UN. This campaign aims to integrate some of these Goals, directly or indirectly, to the society and the daily life of the community. It’s part of bwin’s corporate social responsibility program and part of the initiatives for sustainable development.
Τhe protagonists of this remarkable campaign are 18 personalities of the social and sports community, as well as executives of bwin’s Greek team. Alexandra Martinou (President at Together for Children), Daphne Economou (President at Cerebral Palsy Greece – Open Door), Tassos Marianos (General Manager at ELEPAP), Santra Zafeirakopoulou (CEO at Make A Wish Greece), Eugenia Thanou (Managing Director of Médecins du Monde Greece), Alexandros Theodoridis (Founding Member of the NGO “We can”-BOROYME), Sotiris Petropoulos (Co-founder of HIGGS), Georgios Printezis, Sasha Vezenkov, Shaquielle McKissic (all three of them are players of Olympiacos B.C.), Evangelia Platanioti, Evelina Papazoglou (both are synchronized swimming champions), Dora Gkountoura (fencing champion), Mihalis Tsohos, Vasilis Samprakos (both journalists) and Giorgos Lentzas (presenter) joined forces and participated with pride in the campaign.
Massages filled with motivation, inspiration and guidance unfold through the short documentary film, which was created to convey the meaning of sustainability throughout the country and inform about the value of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
At the same time, Entain plc (LSE:ENT), bwin’s parent company, was included in the list of “50 Global Leaders on Sustainability”, recently presented at Bloomberg, marking the brand’s progress in responsible gaming, sustainable development and ESG (Environment, Society and Corporate Governance). Our Group Policy is based around the following pillars: 1. Operate in countries with regulated markets for online gaming, 2. Responsible Gambling initiatives, 3.
