Bwin, through its social responsibility scheme and initiatives, helps the wishes of the children from Make-a-Wish in Greece come true.
This year in particular under difficult conditions, the annual walk for the “World Wish Day” crossed different areas of Greece. For the first time an online interactive map was used in order to help children in need to realize their dreams. Starting from Kavala and finishing in Heraklion (Crete), the purpose of this e-Walk is to raise funds, so that the wishes of dozens of children will be fulfilled. Amongst those children are 14-year-old Konstantinos and 8-year-old Stefanos, whose wishes will come true thanks to bwin’s contribution.
Konstantinos, who suffers from Becker muscular dystrophy, wishes to accompany his favorite football team. Stefanos, on the other hand, suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and dreams of travelling to Disneyland in Paris. When travel restrictions are lifted because of the Covid-19 pandemic, both their wishes will be realized!
It is worth noting that bwin is the first company to embrace this year’s special charity walk, “e- Walk for Wishes”, in order to give the necessary help and fulfil such wishes.
“Bwin has proved that is always present in difficult times. Faithful to our work, bwin offers help at a critical moment. And this particular moment gives the example with the participation in the virtual walk as the first company that adopts two wishes. More than 200 children are waiting for their dream to come true. The resources for the wishes must be made available now, because when we will return to regular-life conditions there won’t be enough time to materialize them all. Bwin shares that exact anxiety and we thank all its people”, said Sandra Zafeirakopoulou, CEO of the Organization.
On behalf of bwin Ioanna Beriou, Corporate Communications Executive, stressed the need for all companies to follow the example of bwin, stand by these children and the work of the Organization. “This year is the third in a row that we support Make-A-Wish in Greece and we are all as proud of it as ever, considering the conditions we are experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic”, she added.
Bwin, one of the largest and most successful online betting and gambling companies in the world, continues to actively support the people and societies in which it is operating.
In recent years bwin has managed to fulfill the wishes of five (5) children from all over Greece, making their dreams come true. Markos (4 years old), Nikolaos (3 years old), Panagiotis (11 years old), Ioannis (11 years old) and George (12 years old) are now happier and look to the future with optimism.
