Olympiacos BC, with the absolute support of bwin as Grand Sponsor, kept up with the “bwin Monday Night Game Against Covid-19” successful program in February. The series of friendly games are a part of initiatives in order to support the National Healthcare System and vulnerable groups affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
True to its vision for in practice support of the individuals and the communities in which it operates, bwin has proven from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic its intention to be on the society’s side. Therefore, it planned a series of initiatives in order to support everyone affected by it, but also those who find themselves in the first line of defense against Covid-19: our doctors and nurses.
So, bwin joined force with Olympiacos BC and started a series of friendly games, that have given a different meaning to Mondays. Under the name “bwin Monday Night Game Against Covid-19”, the program has benefited thousands of people during February.
Olympiacos faced Ionikos Nikaias in the first fixture of the month and 10.000 surgical masks were provided for the Organizations of the Union “Together for Children”. On the 8th of February, Larisa was the “Reds’” next opponent, but the National Healthcare System was the winner. Masks, gloves for medical use and antiseptics were provided at the General Hospital and the University Hospitals of Larisa.
Finally, on the 22nd of February, during the game against Lavrio the wishes of many children came true in cooperation with “Make-A-Wish” Greece. In addition, three young Olympiacos fans fulfilled their dream to watch their favorite team from the stands. Of course, all the safety measures and precautions were applied as recommended. At the same time, essential medical supplies were donated to “Metaxa” Cancer Hospital.
Via the “bwin Monday Night Game Against Covid-19” bwin and Olympiacos B.C:
- Reinforced the work of doctors and nursing staff of the Attikon General Hospital by delivering a portable ventilator, that will be used in intensive care units.
- Offered Christmas boxes, with traditional Christmas products and essentials, along with the traditional new year’s lucky charm. Also, they offered personal protective equipment in many Athens’ neighborhoods in December, in collaboration with “Médecins du Monde”. Βwin expanded the initiative to the Nursing Home of Athens, offering Christmas boxes to all its inhabitants.
- Provided 30.000 masks to ELEPAP.
- Reinforced the work of doctors nursing staff of “Andreas Papandreou” hospital in Rhodes, “Thriasio” hospital in Elefsina and “Evangelismos” Hospital in Athens by providing medical supplies, such as masks, gloves and antiseptics.
Bwin and Olympiacos BC share the same philosophy when it comes to social responsibility, something that has been proven over the past few years of their cooperation.
During and after the friendly encounters all stringent hygiene and safety protocols were deployed, as the National Public Health Organization necessitate doing.
