Anna was born in 1995 and from the age of five she began to swim. Back then, she couldn’t even imagine that 15 years later, she would represent her country at the Tokyo Olympics!
From Rio to Tokyo
Anna worked hard and managed to become one of the best Greek swimmers. The athlete of Poseidon Ilissia finished 17th at the 100m. butterfly at the Tokyo Olympics and she broke the national record with her winning time of 58.27. Her constant evolvement climaxed at the European Championships of Glasgow in 2019, as she won the bronze medal. It was the first Greek medal at European level in a 25m² pool and this fact underlines the importance of her achievement. At the World Championship of South Korea in July, she achieved the qualifying standard for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Sports and academic career
Anna excels not only in sports, but also in the academic field, as she manages to combine competitive sport with her studies. Ntountounaki was a great student since high school and she took her bachelor’s degree in Law with A’ Grade. Then, she had her master’s degree in Commercial and Corporate Law at the University of London. She loves playing the piano and speaks three languages. As she mentions, sports and academic career make her feel pluralistic.
